Universal and Platform Independent
The SUMA 8000 offers the first truly universal and platform independent
solutions. Through standard a data connection to the server and ethernet
management connection into your network, the system can be attached
to virtually any platform and be managed over the web.

The SUMA 8000 offers redundancy throughout, which can be tailored
to meet your protection needs. Administrators can select redundancy
options for physical groups of disks including RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1,
3, 4, 5. For additional protection, global hot spares can be assigned
to the entire array, allowing automatic data reconstruction. Disk
drives are hot swappable allowing on-line replacements. All systems
include redundant cooling fans and power supplies that are also hot
swappable.
The fans offer variable speed that increases with temperature which
lowers noise in office environments. In addition, the system supports
external UPS battery backup monitoring that notifies users when battery
life reaches a low life threshold. |
Embedded RAID and System Management

Our systems combine leading RAID controller and disk drive technologies
that deliver outstanding performance, meeting the unique needs of
your application. The SUMA 8000 has an Ultra2 LVD 80MB/sec. embedded
RAID controller with two options:
- One LVD Host Channel and Two LVD Drive
Channels - 16 Drives with 2 subsystems.
- One Fibre Channel (optical or copper)
and Three LVD Drive Channels - 24 drives with 3 subsystems
(performance drops when the third drive channel is used.

The SUMA 8000 ships with an embedded JAVA based management controller
that continuously monitors the system, checking thresholds and delivering
predictive notifications so you can keep your finger on the pulse
of critical data. With management software no longer on the server,
management functions now operate in a controlled environment without
affecting server reliability.

It has a single integrated RAID controller that can scale to from
1 box to 3 boxes and a Fibre channel host option.

drive shuttles, storing from 9 to 400GB. It has a single integrated
RAID controller. This system is available as both a desk-side or rack-ready
unit. Once your storage need exceeds your model's capacity, you can
expand by attaching more RAID systems to additional host connections.
When adding additional systems, your existing configuration will not
be disrupted.
